United Kingdom - South Hook Gas Company Ltd has signed a 25-year contract with Total Gas & Power Limited to provide import capacity access and regasification services at the South Hook Terminal at Milford Haven in Wales.
South Hook Gas is the UK liquefied natural gas (LNG) import company which owns and manages the terminal in Pembrokeshire.
This deal allows Total to implement its LNG purchase contracts signed with Qatargas as part of the Qatargas 2 project in which Total is a partner. The energy supplier will be able to import LNG at the terminal destined for the UK gas market.
Rashid Al-Marri, general manager at South Hook Gas Company, said, "South Hook Gas is committed to managing the South Hook Terminal's capacity in an effective and flexible manner. This innovative arrangement will help to maximise use of the South Hook Terminal and increase the opportunity for LNG deliveries to come to the UK."
South Hook Gas is a joint venture between Qatar Petroleum (70%) and ExxonMobil (30%); at full capacity and maximum use the terminal could provide about 20% of the UK's total natural gas requirements.
