Beijing. The following are top stories in China's oil, gas and petrochemical sector today.
1. PetroChina (PTR.NYSE; 601857.SH), China's leading oil and gas producer, has inked a framework strategic cooperation deal with China Coal Energy (601898.SH) on Wednesday to strengthen cooperation.
Both sides vowed to improve cooperation on research and developm ent on new energy, coal liquefaction projects through setting up relev ant joint ventures.
2. China's southern coastal Guangdong province is to build a gas pipeline costing 7 billion US dollars, according to local media repor ts reaching here on Thursday.
Guangzhou Daily, a city newspaper of province's capital Guangzho u, quoted a government source as saying that the province planned to b uild a 3170-kilometer-long natural gas pipeline before 2020 to form an annual gas transportation capacity of 60 billion cubic meters.
3. China's homemade 3,000-meter deep water oil rig has been put on use, Jia Chengzao, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Science , has disclosed.
According the China News Service (CNS) reports, Jia made the dis closure in a news conference arranged by the Ministry of Science and T echnology (MST) on Wednesday.
