Baku. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has today received French oil company TOTAL's President for Exploration and Production Yves-Louis Darricarrère and his accompanying delegation, the AzerTaj state news agency reported.

Atyrau. A single oil field here in Central Asia stands ready to produce nearly as many barrels each day as the entire Gulf of Mexico does, with less danger to the environment. But 30 years after its discovery, this field, known as the Tengiz, is still running at only about half speed. Blame geopolitics, not geology.

Baku. Iran and Turkey reached a $1-billion deal for construction of 660-kn gas pipeline.  The agreement was signed between the energy ministers of the two countries, APA reports quoting FARS news agency. The ministers have also discussed strengthening the bilateral relations and Turkish investment in the Iranian energy sector.

Astana. The Kazakh Oil and Gas Ministry has revoked the license on the development of the Shagyrly-Shomyshty gas deposit, one of the largest in the country, from U.S. company CaspianGasCorporation over debts, the Novosti-Kazakhstan news agency said.
